What I'm Loving Now

I'm loving all the prime time coverage of the Olympics and I'm finding it just too hard to write interesting, coherent sentences and watch at the same time! : ) Soooo how about we do a little visual eye candy to kick off the week? Here's what I'm loving right now

Best of the Gold Coast Recap

We had a blast at the Best of the Gold Coast event last Tuesday. It was really cool to see all the winners displays and taste their delicious food! I highly recommend going next year if you have never been - there's shopping, wine tasting, live demonstrations, a band - so much fun!

Kennebunkport - Part 2

Our favorite home away from home for the weekend became the Cape Arundel Inn, overlooking beautiful Walker Point and the Bush Compound. With delicious cocktails and a stunning view, it was our nightly go-to spot. We were heart broken to hear that we'd missed the Bush family by one night for dinner but hoped with our repeated attendance we might stumble across them again! This historic B&B has 14 rooms as well as a lovely dinning room with an award winning chef and one of the only oceanfront restaurants in Kennebunkport.

Back for round 2

One last viewing of the Bush Compound

After that we were on to a delicious dinner at The Tides Beach Club! The beautiful sister property of Hidden Pond, TBC is located on pristine Goose Neck Beach and has the most wonderful beach chic vibe, with rooms decorated by Jonathan Adler. I absolutely loved this hotel, it reminded me a lot of Montauk and has a totally different feel than everywhere else we went in KBPT.

Dinner was a huge hit, with delicious wine, amazing fish tacos, buffalo shrimp, farm to table salads and tasty tuna entrees. There were so many other wonderful things on the menu we wanted to try - especially the famous lobster roll and the fish and chips! We will definitely be back. Guests of the Inn can enjoy access to their beautiful beach with "Beach Tenders" who will set you up with comfy chairs, plush towels, a cooler filled with waters and even bring you lunch on the beach. Check out their website for even more beautiful photos.

Emily Giffen at Greenwich Library

One of my favorite authors, Emily Giffen, will be at the Greenwich Library tomorrow night from 7-9 to read from her new book Where We Belong.

"When is it justifiable to keep secrets from the ones we love? And if we do, will keeping those secrets irrevocably change who we are? These are the questions that lie at the heart of Emily Giffin's highly anticipated new novel, an unforgettable tale of two women, the secret that binds them together and its impact on the lives of those closest to them"

Giffen is the author of five NYT bestsellers including Something Borrowed, Something Blue, Baby Proof, Love the One You're With and Heart of the Matter. Four of these novels have been optioned for the big screen, the first movie having come out last May.

Doors will open at 6:30 for first come, first serve seating in Cole Auditorium. This is an author not to miss!!

Kennebunkport, ME

Last weekend we took a fabulous road trip to Kennebunkport, ME. We'd been to Prouts Neck growing up and had passed through Kennebunkport but I'd really never spent any time in Maine as an adult. We'd been dying to go back so we booked the trip on a whim, emailed everyone we knew for recommendations and hit the road!

Since things are kindve slow as we roll into summer in the FFC I figured I'd share a few of my favorites from the trip throughout the week. So if you never plan on going to Kennebunkport then I apologize, but maybe 3 posts later I'll be able to win you over! : )

We absolutely loved our hotel - The Beach House Inn. A perfect location, nicely renovated rooms, great outdoor space and complimentary use of bikes, towels and beach chairs. All in all the best spot for a quick weekend away!

She La La Temporarily Closed Due to Storm

We're very sad to share the news that one of our favorite new stores, She La La in New Canaan, was badly damaged in the storm this Sunday. However these tough girls are certainly not down and out, they will be closed for approximately six weeks while they have the damage repaired and then will be back open for business! (Hopefully around Labor Day) We hate that this happened to such nice people and their brand new store! Please be sure to visit their Facebook page to check for reopening dates and give them your support. You can also contact them at info@shopshelala.com for special orders or questions.

We can't wait for them to get back on their feet and selling our favorite goodies!

Sail to Sable

We're really loving new lifestyle brand Sail to Sable which has launched just in time for the height of summer - offering chic tunics and home accessories in bright and whimsical stripes and colors. Owner Jennifer was sweet enough to rush me one for our 4th of July trip to Nantucket and it was the perfect patriotic ensemble!

Perfectly Patriotic with MM

Catching the Fireworks

Love all the trim details!

I got lots of compliments and can't wait to wear it again soon! I love the versatility of a dress, a tunic with white jeans, or a beach cover up all in one.

Sail to Sable is named for the Easternmost (Sail Rock, ME) and Southernmost (Cape Sable, FL) spots on the Eastern Seaboard. Founded by Darien local Jennifer, it's inspired by stripes, salty water, coral, Jackie O, bright and bold fabrics and all things summer! What's not to love?

Here are a few more of my favorite items...

Napkins - $22, Placemat $36

Lively Lime Tunic - $198

Pillows - $99

Also available at Spree in Darien and She La La in New Canaan

Fabulous Forty

We celebrated another wonderful milestone in June - my cousins 40th birthday. Her husband threw her the most fabulous dinner party and I just had to share a few pictures of the beyond beautiful table! I think he's wasting his time in finance, he certainly has a knack for event planning!

Loving this color story!

Corn Salad

With all the hot and steamy days this summer I've been loving simple and fresh corn salads. Easy to make and great for leftovers, this is the perfect way to keep your kitchen cool and your family happy. Throw in tasty extras like shrimp or steak, or use it as the filling of a tortilla!

Here are some options to dress up your salad!
Medium tomato diced or cherry tomatoes halved
Hass avocado diced
Fresh mozzarella cubed
Jalapenos diced
Chopped red onion
Lime juice
Olive Oil
Chopped Cilantro

A light and tasty side dish

With Grilled Jumbo Shrimp

Stay cool!
