Month in Review

As most of your know I'm trying to read 52 books this year and in order to make it I've been using almost all my free time to read - I'm on my 48th book so I think I'm going to make it! {side note I might be one of the most boring people to live with - although my husband said it's ok cause I talk less : ) }

Figured I'd do a month in review of photos to catch you up on where we've been...then on to the good stuff!

Fall Pickin's

This post from last October was all about pumpkins but Pick-Your-Own is already in full gear for the fall! September is prime picking season for raspberries, apples, pears, peaches and squash with pumpkin season starting soon. These next few weeks are perfect picking time!

Check out the below list of locations and find more than just fruit - corn mazes, hayrides, golf, wine tasting, delicious baked goods, and of course cider and donuts! Combine these with some of the CT Wine Tour stops mentioned in our Watch Hill Road Trip! A perfect fall weekend!

Watch Hill Road Trip

We'd been doing so much traveling this summer that when the hubby's bday rolled around we knew we couldn't go away for the weekend again but I wanted to do something more special than a usual weekend at home. So we hit the road for a fun day trip to Watch Hill! This would be a great fall trip with the amazingly clear days, I already want to go again less than a month later. Here were the highlights!

We wanted to make a stop on the way up before lunch so we looked into local area vineyards. We came across Saltwater Farm Vineyard in Stonington which had the most beautiful grounds and looked like the perfect first stop! We loved soaking in the sunshine and the gorgeous river view while tasting their five local wines.

349 Elm St, Stonington CT

The amazing river views from the deck

Next stop the Ocean House in Watch Hill for a delicious porchside lunch. We loved touring around the property and seeing all the stunning areas of the resort - amazing dinning rooms, patios, pool, croquet court and gorgeous water views!

Delicious clam chowder to start off lunch

Amazing warm lobster roll - a ten!
Spying on Taylor Swift from lunch

One gorgeous hotel!

After a great walk around downtown Watch Hill it was sadly time to head for home. Not ready for the trip to end we decided to make one last stop at Chamard Vineyards for wine tasting and their weekend live music series. Another perfect spot with a newly opened outdoor barn offering full wine tastings in addition to a light menu, live entertainment and a great low key vibe!

ASHA by ADM Charms

I was so excited on our trip to Nantucket when my mom surprised me with the ASHA Nantucket charm I'd been lusting over as a pillow present. I love ASHA jewelry and the idea of collecting her charms for all my favorite places would be amazing...I hope she adds more locations soon! We had a great trip and I loved layering my new charm with my favorite lily pendent, so pretty!

Lemon and Lines

While many people are starting to get excited about Fall, I'm enjoying every Summer moment of August {my favorite month!} I'm not interested in shopping for sweaters and boots - I only want to be enjoying shorts and swimsuits. So what better time to have found these wonderful bracelets, they will make me smile all month and I see myself wearing them into September for an Indian Summer!

I love the look of them stacked together - takes these sporty bracelets and elevates them to something chic!

I'm also loving my limited edition Newport Knot bracelet!

Summer Reading List - Part 2

On track for my goal of 52 books in 52 weeks - reading book number 33 in the 33rd week! Hopefully I'll be able to keep it up through the Fall. This prompted me to share a second Reading List since I've read so many more wonderful books this summer - and a few that are already packed in my bag for our upcoming week in Chatham!

A Hundred Summers by Beatriz Williams - I've been saving this book all summer to read on vacation, I cannot wait!!

The Fault in Our Stars by John Green - sometimes you just need to enjoy a little YA fiction!

Crime of Privilege by Walter Walker - from Palm Beach to Cape Cod, this is a Kennedy-esq page turner!

The Irresistible Blueberry Bakeshop and Cafe by Mary Simses - got to support a former FFC writer!

The Yonahlossee Riding Camp for Girls by Anton DiSclafani

The Last Summer of the Camperdowns by Elizabeth Kelly - slow to start but once it got going I loved the story, especially the last page.

The Husband's Secret by Liane Moriarty

The Silent Wife by A.S.A. Harrison

Happy Reading!
