Here's what I've found! *Updated* Thirty something, a little less newly wed, and first time homeowner of a little fixer upper...follow along on a slightly new journey but still with all the love for Fairfield County!

Crazy for Cronuts!
Who wants to go on a road trip? I'm DYING to try the very famous "Cronut" from Dominique Ansel Bakery in Soho. Voted Best Bakery 2012 and Best New Bakery 2012, Dominique Ansel Bakery launched the Cronut in May of this year. Half croissant, half doughnut, this tasty treat can only be scored one of three ways. Visit the bakery where lines start up to two hours before opening {8am Mon-Sat, 9am Sun} and shoppers are limited to two Cronuts per guest...I love these rules from their website
"As a rule of thumb, if you arrive prior to 6:45am on a week day, you have a great chance of getting a Cronut™. Please note there is a 2 person limit for in-store purchases. When in line, please do be considerate of the residences in the neighborhood and the others in line. Do not cut or reserve spots for friends and we hope you don’t endorse any scalpers you may see. Please do try to keep the sidewalk clear of obstruction so there is ample room for passerbys and keep your voice level to a minimum."
Any food that involved scalpers is something I have to try! You can also call Mondays at 11am when the pre-order list opens for up to two weeks in advance, lists are currently full until mid-August and the limit is 6 Cronuts per order. Lastly if you want 50 or more you can find notes on their website for how to place an order, however the soonest pickup is currently September. All Cronuts must be picked up, shipping is not possible due to their short shelf life, and eaten immediately.

Vermont Nuptials
I'm a big fan of eye candy on a Friday. At this point in the week do you really feel like reading anything? So enjoy these gorgeous photos of our friends wedding in Ludlow, VT a few weekends ago. After their church ceremony we rode the chair lift to the top of the mountain for a champagne toast - amazing! - and then off to a picture perfect reception at their beautiful farmhouse. So many special details that pulled the whole wedding together, country chic done oh so well, enjoy!

Harvest Wine Bar
I finally got around to checking out Harvest Wine Bar on Greenwich Ave for cocktails and while we sipped our drinks all we heard about was the famous Shaved Brussels Sprout Salad. We'll of course we had to find out what that was all about as Brussels Sprouts top our list of favorites. So two days later we headed back for dinner and we were wowed! Cold shaved brussels sprouts with a truffle vinaigrette over a warm parmesan risotto cake, so amazing! I'm sad to say everything else we had paled in comparison to this dish however I'm optimistic to go back and try some other items on the menu for a better all around meal. But we sure will be back for this salad!

Cape Cod Restaurants
We were lucky enough to spend the week of July 4th in Chatham, MA however the weather didn't exactly cooperate the whole week! The sun shone in time for the holiday weekend however the early part of the week wasn't exactly beach weather. So we figured what better time to explore some great new restaurant in Cape Cod!
If you're in Chatham you absolutely cannot miss having dinner at the Impudent Oyster, one of the best restaurants I've ever eaten at, hands down! I dream about their Devils on Horseback. So we certainly had dinner here but we also wanted to check out some low key restaurants in other parts of the Cape.

Craving some delicious pizza and a fun family friendly environment? Check out Ember Pizza in Harwich Port. Great mozzarella sticks, buffalo wings, salads and plenty of speciality or design your own pizzas. Awesome thin crust and well done, just the way our family likes it. Always crowded so come early for a Wachusett Blueberry at the bar or bring a glass of wine to the outdoor fire pit. And be sure to walk next door to Sunday School for some ice cream to top it all off!

Looking for a fun road trip? Head up to Wellfleet to our new favorite lunch spot - Mac's Shack, home of the famous Wellfleet Oysters! Dine outside at the bar or overlooking the oyster bar on the crushed shell floor created from all their used shells. Don't miss the Flounder BLT - delicious lightly fried flounder with BLT and a chipotle aioli on a soft roll with fries and a pickle! The perfect summer lunch. Be sure to check out the Wellfleet waterfront and Mac's other location, Mac's on the Pier.

Missing mexican while you're enjoying the seafood heavy fair on the Cape? Head to Guapo's Tortilla Shack in Brewster or Orleans. For a super causal night head to the Brewster location to order at the counter from their long list of tacos, grab a picnic table and enjoy some nice cold beers. The perfect stop after the beach! For a more full service experience head to the Orleans location for dining room and large sit down bar with an expanded menu. Some highlights included the house made guacamole and chips, shrimp fajita tacos, chicken fajita burritos and the mexican corn! Incredibly reasonable prices and great options for kids, also perfect for takeout!
